The U.S. Embassy/GSO in Abidjan is seeking individuals to fill Five Chauffeur positions in the General Service Office (GSO).
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent operates all types of Motor vehicles to transport Mission Employees and official
delegations.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
  • Completion of elementary school is required.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience as a professional driver in an established company, a government entity or an international organization with no vehicle accidents or traffic violations is required.
  • English Level II (Limited knowledge) speaking/writing and French Level III (Good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing are required. Language proficiency will be tested.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations as well as safe vehicle operating practices and also be thoroughly familiar with all host government offices, foreign chanceries and official residences.
  • Must be able to familiarize oneself with the residences of members of the American community, both official and non-official.
  • Must hold a current Ivoirian driver's license categories BCDE and be able to operate and perform preventative maintenance on various types of vehicles. An Embassy Driving test will be administered prior to final selection.
SELECTION PROCESS
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
  • Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
  • Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
  • Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
  • Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
  • Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
